From the Hearth
Part writing nook, part practice pad, this is where ideas and visions are honored and offered freely.
If something resonates, throw a log on the fire and share your thoughts in the comments.
If youβre a creative of any type (even those whose practice is separate from their income), I encourage you to do some digging and explore what your personal creative archetype might look like. What does your art do for you? For others? What do you do for it? If youβre like me, you may find that thereβs more value there than you previously realized.
Ask your unconscious what it wants you to know β you might just be surprised by what you hear.
Imagine your Elder self β wisened by experiences youβve yet to have. What would they say to you in this moment?
I just dug this up from the basement - a 2017 recording of βBe Betterβ from my first album, Coming of Age. Should I arrange it for harp??
Harp on it.
A reflection on unexpressed anger, and a call to myself to finally give it a voice. To sound a battle cry for freedom.
βοΈ This week, I invite you to name one thing you found beautiful β a moment, an object, an experienceβ¦anything that moved you.
As a member of the National Speleological Society, I decided to submit a writeup of Tapetum to their Arts & Letters publication, Illuminations. I included some photos I took inside Tawneyβs Cave, one of myself with the lyrics to βStalactitesβ, and a link to the track as-is (unfinished). Since I couldnβt physically attend the NSS convention, it was quite a surprise when I received an email letting me know I had won an award for it.
how does it feel?
feelings transposed to sound, unedited unplanned raw and messy as they are

This week I invite you to join me in pausing any time you hear a bell, gong, or chime sound. Just breathe and listen for 15 seconds β thatβs it.
